What a Curaçao licence actually covers

What the licence requires

The National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK) took effect on 24 December 2024. The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) now issues licences directly. Its rules cover local establishment, management, integrity checks, financial checks, identity controls, game testing, complaints, and dispute resolution.

Current indefinite-term licence conditions require enough funds to pay expected prizes. They also require player funds to be held in a separate account. Licence class and transitional status can change the exact conditions. Verify the company and approved domain in the official CGA portal.

How complaints work

Current indefinite-term licence conditions require a published complaint process. A player can escalate an unresolved dispute to a CGA-approved alternative dispute resolution provider. The licence conditions also recognize the jurisdiction of Curaçao courts. The Curaçao licence conditions require operators to report complaint and dispute data to the CGA.

Comparison with a UK licence

A UK Gambling Commission licensee must offer free independent dispute resolution when its complaint process does not resolve a dispute within eight weeks. UK operator terms cannot restrict a player's right to bring court proceedings. UK licence rules also require operators to disclose the level of protection for player funds.

Curaçao now requires a complaint process, approved dispute resolution, and separate player funds for indefinite-term licensees.
