Wagering requirements explained
A wagering requirement is the total amount that you must bet before specified bonus funds or winnings become available for withdrawal. The terms express the requirement as a multiple of a stated amount. A 35x requirement on a $100 bonus creates $3,500 in required turnover. Other bonus terms can still restrict the withdrawal.
Bonus-only vs deposit plus bonus
The multiplier can apply to the bonus or to the deposit plus the bonus. A 35x requirement on a $100 bonus creates $3,500 in turnover. A $100 deposit plus a $100 bonus gives a $200 base. The same 35x multiplier then creates $7,000 in turnover. Always identify the base before you compare offers. The official BitStarz bonus terms, checked on 2026-08-11, use 40x wagering on bonus funds unless supplemental terms differ.
The expected cost of clearing
Theoretical expected clearing cost equals actual turnover multiplied by the house edge. Consider a $100 bonus with 35x wagering on a 96% RTP slot. The house edge is 4%. A $3,500 turnover gives a long-run expected loss of $140. In a simplified model, the $100 bonus minus $140 gives a theoretical value of minus $40. The simplified model excludes all other terms. A $100 bonus divided by $3,500 gives a break-even house edge near 2.86%. The equivalent RTP is above 97.14%. The game must also receive full contribution under the terms. The long-run cost calculation does not predict one clearing attempt. Use the wagering tool on our calculators page for other inputs.
How game contribution changes turnover
A contribution table states the credited share of each bet toward required turnover. Slots often contribute 100%. Table games and live games often contribute 5% or 10%. BitStarz counts table and live play at 5%. At 5% contribution, $70,000 in actual bets gives $3,500 in credited turnover. The 35x requirement therefore requires actual bets equal to 700 times the $100 bonus. A low game edge can still produce a high expected cost when the contribution rate requires much more turnover. Some terms exclude blackjack or baccarat completely.
Maximum-bet limits
Many bonuses limit the stake while wagering is active. A common limit is approximately $5 or the cryptocurrency equivalent. BitStarz lists 5 EUR or USD and 0.00006 BTC among its limits. A breach can cause forfeiture of the bonus and related winnings. The operator can enforce the limit during the withdrawal review. Casino software might allow a stake above the limit. Check the limit before the first bet. Follow the limit until the terms confirm that wagering is complete.
How volatility interacts with clearing
Volatility describes how a game distributes outcomes around its long-run average. It does not change the theoretical expected value at a fixed RTP. A volatility label does not predict whether one bonus attempt will finish. The exact completion probability requires the full game model and all bonus rules. Our volatility guide explains the limits of qualitative labels.
Before you opt in
